Walkin' the Dog

The sun has just cleared the horizon, and without fail, the whimpering starts. I could be in the Midwest, or the coast (doesn't matter which one) or right here in the middle of the Sonoran Desert, my best friend is ready for a romp. I can not stay mad at him for long. His big sweet eyes know how to melt my heart, any time of day. My little guy is a Dachshund, and if you have ever been around a Doxie, you know they rule the nest.

So where can I go that is a win-win for both of us? Dog-Friendly Coffeehouses are not a common site on every corner in this big city. Yet, there are some outstanding choices where you and your best bud can hang out together.

Today's destination is the Mighty Cup Coffeehouse in historic downtown Glendale. This little Westside gem is tucked in on a side street that is pretty quite. There is a big yard front and back with plenty of parking. Nice big tables are scattered around the yard under trees. Wi-Fi means you can spend time catching up with friends while your pooch sniffs around.

The menu offers a big selection of coffees and teas, along with yummy pastries and some light lunch selections. On Sunday, the Mighty Cup has a fun Waffle Brunch from 10 am to about 1 pm. and you are most likely to meet other pet lovers, too. Everyone is very laid back and eager to make sure that you and your furry friend have everything they need. So next time the pup is ready for an early morning romp, head out to the Mighty Cup at 7021 N. 57th Ave. in Glendale.
